Origin of the Fallen
IN THE BEGINNING, there was only energy. Then came creation and, in response, death. Creatures with their own unique consciousness manifested from life magik and death magik.
Zachriel and Zaral, halves of the same soul, became two of the first conscious beings and their essence was death. For millennia they roamed the earth, feeding on blood from primitive humans to enhance both their power and control.
Turning of the First Humans
Zachriel created the first vampire, Adas. Within a second of draining away Adas’ life, Zachriel sought to spare the mortal instead. With Zachriel’s blood in his veins, Adas transformed. He was mortal no more. In exchange, he was bound to the night, and carried a terrible thirst that could only be sated by mortal blood. Zachriel had created a version of himself, inadvertently spawning a new species that possessed the power and immortality of death.
Thus, the vampire species was born to spread across all of the earth.

Governance of the Covens
VAMPIRE SOCIETY IS SPLIT into two factions known as the Great Covens. Each represents the main bloodlines, those of Zachriel and those of Zaral.
To govern the growing factions, Zachriel and Zaral created nine physical Covens located at strategic places of power throughout the world. Four of the major Covens belong to Zachriel, four to Zaral, and the final is split between them to ensure equality and balance between the two bloodlines.
Through the rule of the Covens, vampires maintain control over humankind and are able to shape the world to the desires of the immortal species.
Zachriel’s Covens strive to maintain stability, while those of Zaral’s exalt in pursuing every hunger, unbound by mortal and societal conscience.
